Clinical Trial Registry of India (CTRI) launched.

Clinical Trial Registry of India (CTRI) has been launched recently by National Institute of Medical Statistics (NIMS), an initiative from ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research).

The mission of the Clinical Trials Registry-India (CTRI) is to encourage all clinical trials conducted in India to be prospectively registered before the enrollment of the first participant and to disclose details of the 20 mandatory items of the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) dataset. In this manner the CTRI hopes to become a WHO ICTRP ICMJE (International Council of Medical Journal Editors ) compliant Primary Register for India.

CTRI comes in the wake of media cry about the unregulated clinical trials going on in India. CTRI puts the data of on-going clinical trials in public domain, in an attempt to make the clinical research more transparent and accountable. Though the initiative still in the stage of infancy, it is a welcome move from ICMR, when India is increasingly emerging as a preferred destination for the outsourcing of clinical trials.

I observed that some other links were dead which are restored now.

    We regret the inconvenience
